Community grants for open culture in the Arab world

Established in 2017 by Creative Commons at the request of Bassel's family, with parallel grants from the Jimmy Wales Foundation. Inaugural recipients (2018) included Mosireen Collective, Sharq.org, and ASI-REM/ADEF Lebanon — up to $10,000 each for collaboration, community building, and digital preservation in Bassel's spirit.
