Open 3D models and digital reconstructions of Palmyra

Bassel began reconstructing Palmyra in 3D in 2001 with archaeologist Khaled al-Asaad. After his detention, colleagues relaunched #NEWPALMYRA to publish open models, exhibitions, and toolchains — including Artifaq and Wikimedia uploads — so communities can teach, rebuild, and exhibit destroyed heritage.
